Falcons, Vikings Tie 1-1 in Must Win Game

October 18, 2012

NEWPORT–It was a gorgeous fall afternoon yesterday as the North Country field hockey team (3-8-3) played their final game of the regular season against Lyndon Institute (3-5-3).
It was a must win game for both teams, as they are separated by just two index points heading into the contest, but the Falcons and Vikings had to settle for the 1-1 tie.
Before the game got underway, North Country recognized their four departing seniors; Bailey Carter, Mariah Roberts, Danielle Gabucci and Stephanie Jones.

UCA Soccer Sweeps Senior Appreciation Day

October 18, 2012

NEWPORT–UCA honored it’s outgoing seniors on Wednesday during a doubleheader against Concord.
In the boys game, Ji Kim’s hatrick set the pace in the Crusaders 5-0 win.
Justin Limoges and Ji Hoon Park, whose birthday was also on Wednesday, had the other goals.
It was a slow start for UCA, with the score tied 0-0 at the half, but the second was the polar opposite of the first, and the boys erupted for five goals to net the win.
The Crusaders also had a special guest appearance in goal as Marc Quirion played goalie for the last fifteen minutes to earn the shut-out with Chris DeLaBruere.
