Three Minute Lapse Proves Costly for Falcons Against Tide

October 25, 2012

BARRE–Spaulding's Julia Ormsby's goal two minutes and nine seconds into the first half was all the eighth seeded Crimson Tided needed as they held on for the remaining seventy-two-plus minutes to defeat North Country 1-0 in the opening round of the Division I play-offs.
"We played hard, but you never get those goals back," said coach Peter Alexander. "We had eight chances to clear or get something done, and you could see it coming.
"But, from that moment on, I thought we competed and had some decent chances, and I am very pleased with the effort."

Dunbar Sisters Strike in Chargers 2-0 Win Over Crusaders

October 25, 2012

CRAFTSBURY–Sisters Elaine and Sarah Dunbar each had a goal as Craftsbury Academy defeated UCA 2-0 in playdown action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers controlled play in the early going, and their pressure paid off when Sarah Dunbar opened the scoring, sending a rebound past United Christian goaltender Lydia Samaan.
In the second, with the score still 1-0 CA, UCA picked up their game and started to pressure the Chargers.
But the home team did not buckle, instead mounting their own assault on the UCA net.
