NEWPORT–The North Country boys basketball team is in a state of flux right now. The team has been trying to establish an identity as a defensive minded physically and mentally tough group, but with a stream of players going in and out of the line-up as of late, it has been tough.
"We started off 4-3 and we are now 4-9. We are on a six game losing streak and we are frustrated," said coach Brian Bonvechio, "We feel like we are playing hard enough, but we are not getting things done that we need to."

ORLEANS-With a four game wining streak under their belts, the Lake Region Rangers looked to continue the trend. Visiting Danville had other ideas as they pulled away late for a 63-57 victory. The Indian backcourt had their way with the Rangers guards as Kyle Johnson and Scott Remick combined for 41 points for Danville. The tandem forced numerous turnovers, laying the groundwork for the Indians’ eleventh win of the year.
WESTMORE–With perfect weather conditions and lightly falling snow to accent the mood, the North Country Nordic teams had a great day at the races on Saturday.
The Falcon girls won the race with a score of 22, besting hosts St. Johnsbury and two other teams to earn the win. The NCU boys came in third with a score of 49 behind St. Johnsbury in first and Burlington in second.
