WOODSTOCK–What I assumed would be an easy return to the bench turned into quite the adventure as the North Country girls hockey team managed to escape with a 9-6 win over the Wasps on Wednesday night.
"It was not the prettiest win I have ever seen, but the girls need to put this one behind them and get ready for Stowe on Friday," I said to myself after the game.
With assistant coaches Tom Bernier and Tracy Muzerall unavailable for the game, head coach Claude Paul asked me if I would like a chance to resume my old duties as an assistant coach for the evening.
JAY-The North Country icemen rallied for a pair of third period scoring plays and knocked off the visiting Middlebury Tigers 2-1 at the Ice Haus atop Jay Peak. It took goals by Ryan Paul and Adam Viens to secure the victory. Falcon junior netminder Chris Bronson kicked out 16 shots to help lock down the Tigers.
The Falcons scored twice in a span of two minutes in the third period to get the equalizer and the lead goal. Logan Fortier led Ryan Paul who went through a pair of Tiger defenders. Paul fired the disk past Middlebury goaltender Nick Brunch knotting things up at 1 all.
