JERICHOâThe North Country boys basketball team's season came to an end on Wednesday night with a 76-38 loss to the top seeded Mount Mansfield Cougars.
North Country had a tough time competing with the larger Cougar squad, and while it was close early, MMU was able to power past the Falcons, en-route to the win.
âThe score was 10-6 and Caleb had back-to-back drives, but they didnât go in, and they (MMU) came right back and took what could have been a tie score and made it 15-6,âsaid Coach Brian Bonvechio.
JAYâNorth Country's boys hockey team came out on Wednesday night and played a hard-nosed, well disciplined game to earn a 4-2 win over Spaulding in the opening round of the Metro Division play-offs.
Said Assistant Captain Nate Stewart on the win, "This is amazing, I can't really explain it anymore than we are ecstatic."
Coach Andrew Roy shuffled his lines, and the combinations produced a well balanced attack for the Falcons.
MONTPELIER â The Lake Region Rangers took to the road Wednesday night for the first round of the Division 2 playoffs against the #7 seeded Montpelier Solons. The Rangers were without sophomore Alex Beauregard for the contest who suffered a high ankle sprain during the closing moments of the last game against Richford. After a contest that went down to the wire, the blue and white ultimately fell 62-55.
HARDWICKâIt took until the later stages of the game, but Craftsbury was able to put together a 16-3 run to get past the Chelsea Red Devils to advance in the Division four play-offs.
The win earns the team a date with Rochester, who was one of four teams to defeat the Chargers this season.
Kyle Adams had seventeen points in the win, and freshman Alex Vetere had eleven.
Their game against number four Rochester is slated to take place on Friday at the South Royalton high school at 7:00.
