ST. ALBANS–The NC track team was led by Riley Simoneau, Jason Webster, Haley Tetreault and Dylan Columbia in a ten-team meet hosted by MVU on Thursday.
Simoneau won the shot put with a personal best of 43’ 1.” He was followed by Bubba Collins in third.
Webster led a four man sweep of the discus with a toss of 123’ (approaching his state championship form.) He was followed by Simoneau, Barry Shelton and Josh Brien.
Haley Tetreault finished second in the 1500 to NE champion Ellie Purrier, in a time of 5:09. Tetreault came back and won the 800 by a wide margin.
Deslandes Blue Wave Tae Kwon Do Academy attended the spring championships held at Johnson State College on April 14th. These students went and had a good day of competition and came home with 15 medals total and a bike! They range from the young age of 5 all they way up to adult age. The students went and competed in 3 events, Forms, Breaking and Sparring and showed very good sportsmanship while doing so. The competitors train in Newport weekly attending class from 1 to 3 times a week. Classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights for ages 4 and up.
