Olympic Hockey Champs Tuning up for World Championships

April 5, 2012

JAY PEAK - Team Canada woman’s coach Dan Church is in his first year as head man of the national team. He has been around the block in terms of hockey experience however and knows the pressure that is on his team.
”We tell our team that pressure is a privilege," he said. "When you represent Canada, you are expected to play well. That pressure is a good thing. I don’t know if I agree that we are the favorite since we have had trouble winning the World’s lately. But we expect to play well each time out.”
The rivalry with the USA has made both teams better.

Falcons Win Season Opener Against Mount Mansfield

April 5, 2012

NEWPORT–A cold day with a mix of sun and clouds greeted the North Country boys tennis team as they kicked off their season against Mount Mansfield Wednesday afternoon.
With the Falcons and Cougars splitting the six matches, it came down to total games won, and with a 61-57 advantage, North Country picked up the win.
Dave Durivage dropped the first set 2-6, but rallied to take the next two 6-1, 7-5, defeating Dave Poleson in the number one slot.
"Dave's match was all about ebb and flow," said coach Gary Atchinson. "He fought his way through it and toughed it out in the end."
