KILLINGTON–"That was probably the most solid 18 holes of tournament golf I have played in quite a while."
That is what Matt Morin said of his first round at the Vermont State Amateur Championship on Tuesday.
The recent Lake Region graduate, along with Matt Stakus, shared the lead with a one under par 70 heading into Wednesday's 2nd round at the Green Mountain National Golf Course.
Said Morin of the keys to his success on Tuesday, "I did not make any big numbers.
"I was calm and cool on the course, I did not three-putt and I did not shoot anything higher than a bogey."
CASTLETON–The Vermont Softball Coaches Association, partnering with Castleton State College, gave the opportunity of a lifetime to thirty-six of the top softball players and coaches in the state when the group gathered for a weekend of softball at the North-South All-Star Series.
Catcher Chelsey Thibeault from Lake Region was the sole representative from Orleans County at the event.
The best of three series got underway on Friday as the players battled not only each other, but the gruelling heat as well.
The North swept the double-header, winning by the scores of 9-7 and 6-4.
