Youth Plus Speed Looks to be a Winning Formula for Falcon Girls

NEWPORT–With only four seniors on the 2012 roster, North Country's girls soccer team will be fielding a crew made up of primarily 11 juniors, along with said seniors, 3 sophomores and 1 freshman.
"We are looking very good, said coach Jose´Batista. "They've put in two weeks of hard training and I think that this being Peter and I's third year, it has given us a little more insight of what this league's all about and what our strength and weakness' of our program are."

Kilian Scores 4 TD’s to Sink Falcons 28-16 in Season Opener

NEWPORT–From the second that Colton White's opening kick-off was flagged down by the officials, you had the feeling that North Country's season opener was going to be a long affair.
Despite a low scoring first half, it took almost three hours for the Spaulding Crimson Tide to defeat the Falcons 28-16 in new head coach Tim Simoneau's first game.
"It did not go as well as I wanted it too, but there were some good things," said Simoneau. "Our offensive and defensive schemes were working, and I see a lot of potential. Now it is just a matter of execution."

Rangers Off to a Good Start, Best Olympians 1-0

ORLEANS–The Lake Region Rangers kicked off their on Saturday.
The boys defeated the Oxbow Olympians 1-0 to get their season started on the right foot, starting with some good play by their backfield.
"They played strong defensively," said head coach Tom Evans. "They weren't tested much, but when they were they came through nicely."
The Rangers, on their game from the get-go, were rewarded for their efforts when Anthony Wright knocked home his first goal of the season to get the Rangers on the board.

Rice Defeats Falcons 4-0

NEWPORT–Trailing 1-0 after one half of play, the North Country field hockey team fell victim to Rice's offensive outburst in the second half and came up a little short, losing their season opener 4-0 on Saturday morning.
"They did pretty well considering Rice is probably the second best team in the state," said head coach Chantelle Bouchard.
Rice was all over the Falcons early on and goaltender Danielle Gabucci was put to the test time, and time again.
The Green Knights finally found the back of the net on an unbelievable penalty shot by Erika Gonyaw.
