JAY-Hockey Night in Jay opened up with the North Country girls soundly defeating a very good Northfield team 7-1 in game one of the boy-girl doubleheader on a night where it felt warmer to be inside the rink than out.
The girls pumped home five first period goals, giving the coaching staff exactly what they have been looking for this season, in a very complete-team win.
"We were finally putting the puck in the net and I think we caught them a little flat footed," said coach Claude Paul. "They had some issues with their team today so I don't think they came out ready at the start."
JAY–With temperatures in the negative teens, and a wind chill factor that made it feel another fifteen degrees colder, family, friends and fans alike braved the conditions to come out and watch the North Country boys hockey team play a very balanced, competitive and clean game as they defeated Colchester 4-3 on Wednesday evening.
"This was a great rebound for us," said coach Andrew Roy. "The guys played smart and probably blocked more shots than in the other nine games combined.
