NEWPORT-Brenna McMannon's penalty kick goal with 9:15 left to play was the difference as the Colchester Lakers defeated the North Country Falcons 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
"Those are points we need to have as we are trying to make the play-offs, which isn't a lock, and we are trying to avoid the 16th seed," NCU coach Peter Alexander said about the significance of the loss.
The Falcons were once again without some key players, as Michaela Columbia is out for the season, Devinnie Davis was sick, and Dasha Plotnikov was inactive.
ORLEANS–The North Country cross country team picked up where they left off from last week's race at Primeau Farm, sweeping the top position in all three divisions at the Lake Region Relays on Monday afternoon.
The categories were broken down into boy-girl, boy-boy and girl-girl, with each runner completing a 1.6 mile lap.
Avery Ellis and Parker LaCourse (20:32) teamed up to finish first in the boy-girl division, followed by Lyndon Institute's Keegan Wilson and Kylie Harris (22:46) in second, and NCU's Patrick Tetreault and Briana Bonnell (23:02).
