North Country’s Brunnette & Ellis Shatter Course Records

October 10, 2013

DERBY-What a day at the races!
The long awaited home meet finally arrived with a picturesque day and great fan support.
Thank you to all that came out to watch, and especially to those of you who came out to work.
Without those volunteers (especially the timing crew!) this would not have come off so well.
In cross country, we don’t have the luxury that every other sport has where the coach shows up to the prepped field with officials waiting and just coaches.

Beauregard Fires in Four Goals To Pace Rangers 4-2

October 10, 2013

ORLEANS-The Lake Region Rangers moved to 8-2-1 on the year after a 4-2 win over visiting Enosburg. Senior striker Alex Beauregard netted 4 goals, two in each half to power the Ranger offense.
Lake Region took an early 2-0 lead before a couple defensive breakdowns let the Hornets back in the game. Cam Cafori and Zack Dixon-Smith tallied for Enosburg forging a 2 all deadlock at the halftime horn.
The Rangers slugged it out in the middle of the field as each club looked for the go ahead score midway through the second half.

Lady Rangers Hold Off Wildcats in Rain-Soaked Contest

October 7, 2013

ORLEANS–Before the heavens erupted, drenching all of those in attendance, the Lake Region girls soccer team was able to score two goals to get the 2-0 win over Hazen on Monday afternoon.
"In weather like this you hope that you come out with a win and that the breaks go your way," said LRU coach Brad Urie. "Hazen played really tough, but a couple of bounces went our way and we were able to come away with the win."

Second Half Scoring Sends Rangers Past Olympians

October 3, 2013

ORLEANS–After a sluggish first half of soccer, the Lake Region Rangers got some help from Orleans County's leading scorer Alex Beauregard, who deposited two goals behind Oxbow netminder Michael Hodge as the Rangers avenged an earlier defeat by the Olympians with a 2-0 win on Wednesday afternoon.
LR coach Tom Evans was a man of few words after the contest, saying just, "The second half was a lot better than the first half, but quite honestly, we need to play 80 minutes of soccer.
"The victory of nice, but we can't expect to win playing forty minutes of soccer."

Timely Scoring Sends Olympians Past Lady Rangers 2-1

October 2, 2013

ORLEANS–Tuesday's girls soccer match between Lake Region and Oxbow was a classic example of what can happen when you do not take advantage of your scoring opportunities.
Lake Region out-shot Oxbow 14-4, with several of the shots coming from prime scoring locations, but balls were either fired wide, or directly at Oxbow's netminder Meghan Williams, and the end result was a 2-1 win for the Olympians.

The Falcons were without Devinnie Davis, who hopes to be back in action later this week, and Michaela Columbia, who suffered an injury over Maniatty weekend.
With the win North Country improves to 3-6, while St. J drops to 1-7-1.
