NEWPORT–After going almost two long months since their last win, the North Country boys basketball team rallied from an eleven point first quarter deficit to defeat the Colchester Lakers 57-52 on Thursday evening.
"This feels great and it has been a long time coming," said NCU coach Brian Bonvechio. "We played these guys to a two point game at Colchester and we thought that we could play with them tonight and we did. We played tough defense and got some great performances out of these young men."

ORLEANS-Strong defense leads to good offense, and with a smothering press combined with some lights out shooting, the Lake Region boys ran all over the Stowe Raiders en-route to a season-high 93-38 win on Friday night.
“It was an all-around great effort out there, one through eleven. We were missing Clint, but everyone played well," said LRU coach James Ingalls. "We just wanted to work out the kinks on defense, as last few games we have been letting up the last few minutes, but they brought the intensity for 32 minutes tonight."

No. Country 3, Middlebury 1
MIDDLEBURY–Trailing 1-0 after one period, the Falcons were able to rally behind two goals from Crystal Moss to earn a big road win over a much improved Tiger team.
"The girls are starting to learn how to bounce back after a tough first period," said NCU coach Claude Paul. "Overall we had a good second and third, really taking over the game in the final period."
Heading into the second down 1-0, Emily Doty hooked up with Moss for the first North Country goal of the game.
