SOUTH BURLINGTON–The last time North Country and South Burlington met in the play-offs at the Cairns Arena, the game went into double overtime and the Falcons came away victorious.
This time around, the game went into triple overtime, and unfortunately for the maroon and blue, the Rebels were able to avenge their 2012 loss, winning 3-2 to advance to the Division I state championship game against CVU.
Said NCU coach Andrew Roy, "They gave everything they had, and I could not have possibly asked for more, and I am very proud of the performance they gave.
WHITE RIVER–Hartford got off to an 11-0 start in the first, and although Lake Region would battle back, making it 26-26 in third, the Hurricanes were just too strong, as they cruised to the 60-39 quarter-final win.
"They played tough defense, and as much as we tried to prepare the girls for it, we struggled early in the game before settling down," said LRU coach Mark Tinker. "Hopefully it is a good learning experience for the ones coming back, and an unfortunate ending for the ones that are graduating."
