NEWPORT–When embarking a new adventure, it is always handy to have strong leadership at the top of your expedition crew.
For the 2013 North Country girls soccer team, the new adventure is a jump into a full time Metro Division schedule, and the leadership comes in the form of the eleven seniors who are returning for their final season of wearing the maroon and white.
"We are excited about having all of these seniors on our team," said coach Peter Alexander on Wednesday.

Field Hockey Falcons Look to Build on 2012’s Play-off Success

August 28, 2013

NEWPORT–Out of all of the fall sports team at North Country, last year's field hockey team had the most impressive finish, making it all of the way to the semi-finals in the Division III play-offs.
The experience and wisdom gained during that run is what head coach Chantelle Bouchard is hoping motivates and drives her team in 2013.
"I think (last year) really opened their eyes, as they were good enough to make it as far as they wanted to," said Bouchard. "They had never gone that far, which I think kind of held them back, but now they know they can achieve this."

August 27, 2013

WEST DOVER-On Saturday, August 10, 2013 a team of ten people representing Fortitude Fitness Systems in Derby and Lyndonville completed Tough Mudder New England at Mount Snow in West Dover, Vermont.
I know this because I was a member of the team.
I went into this event terrified I would not be able to finish and would let my team down. I finished the event knowing I had the strength and determination to accomplish anything.

North Country Soccer Boys Fielding a Young Team in 2013

August 26, 2013

NEWPORT–Last season was a tough road to travel for the North Country soccer team, as they went 3-9-1 for the year.
This season they are looking to change that, but it will not be easy.
Overall, the number of kids playing soccer is down, and at one point it looked like there may not have even been a JV team, but thankfully the numbers were high enough to have both squads.
Head coach James McKenny will field a smaller team than last season, but he is ready to once again tackle the challenges of the ever competitive Metro Division.

Instead of thinking about last year's campaign, the team, along with their coaching staff, is leaving the past in the past and are moving forward with a real feeling of positivity and good will.
