NEWPORT-Against a very young, inexperienced UCA girls soccer team, the Craftsbury Lady Chargers unloaded 17 goals in a ruthless 17-0 win over the Lady Crusaders.
Iva Wright and Meghan Brown led the way with three goals apiece. Meghan Pennock, Melanie Sergiev and Abbie Martin each had a pair of tallies, with five other players finding the back of the net as well.
However, the hardest working player on the field was not a Charger, it was UCA netminder Drew Andrews.
NEWPORT-After 80 minutes of relentless action could not produce a goal, or a winner, the North Country and Lyndon Institute girls headed into overtime knotted at 0-0.
With under two minutes left in the first overtime period, Crystal Moss worked her way into the Vikings' 18 where she was taken down by a Lyndon defender.
The referee signaled a PK and Chelsea Bianchi took her place at the line.
The senior wasted no time blasting the ball into the left side of the net, sending both players and fans alike into a frenzy, as the home team earned the 1-0 win.
