NEWPORT-With two outs and Madison Mosher on first base, Missy Morse drilled a ball deep to left-center in the bottom of the 7th to bring home the game winning RBI and give North Country their second win of the season, a 2-1 victory over Missisquoi Valley Union.

ORLEANSâ€“he Lake Region golf teams got their season rolling on Wednesday, as they hosted Hazen, Richford and Enosburg at the Orleans Country Club.
The boys took home the win with a team score of 209, followed by Hazen 233 and Enosburg at 256.
Richford had only three players, who came in at 199.
Carl Oberg led the pack, medaling with a 46, Noah Racine and Holden Poirier each shot 52, Dusin Bodette had a 57, Derek Rodgers a 67, and Connor Gaboriault hit the clubhouse with a 76.
NEWPORTâ€“While the weather conditions were fantastic, the end result was not as bright as the shinning sun, as the North Country Falcons ran into a very good Montpelier tennis team on Wednesday, losing the match 6-1.
The girls will host Lake Region next Wednesday in a rematch from their contest last month.
It should be an interesting bout, since both teams were missing their number one player, amongst others, the last time these two teams met.

ORLEANSâ€“Already up six to two after three, the Lady Rangers exploded for seven runs in the fourth, en-route to an 18-3 win over the defending Division III champion Peoples Academy.
"This is the first time we have beaten Peoples in three years, and it is always nice to get a W against someone you haven't beat in a while" said LRU coach Matt Tinker.
Peoples used the three pitchers in the game, with Megan Lamare taking the loss.
Michelle Thibeault went the distance for the Lake Region, fanning 6 and walking just 1.
NEWPORTâ€“For the second straight match, the North Country Falcons got wins from their top three singles players, but unlike their previous contest with Spaulding, they were able to win that elusive fourth match to beat the BFA Bobwhites 4-3 in boys tennis action.
The team will be back in action this Saturday, when they host St. Johnsbury at Prouty Beach at 10:00.

NEWPORTâ€“On Friday, North Country hosted the first of three track meets that will take place at the school this season.
Phoenix Alix, who took second place in the girls high jump, spoke about her day at the track, saying, "It was only my second time doing it (high jump), and when I started, I couldn't jump over anything, so I was pretty pleased with how well I did."
Due to a technical snafu, the results were delayed in getting to the offices of the Express.
Also, thanks to the limited personnel available, and the vacation-induced roster shortages, team results were not kept.
Lake Region's baseball team picked up two wins late last week to improve their record to 3-1.
On Thursday, the boys traveled to Danville, where they earned a hard fought, 11 inning 4-3 win over the Indians.
Alex Menard, Dustin Bathalon and Logan Harper each doubled for the Rangers, while Matt Messier improved his hitting streak to 3 games in a row.Â
Messier started the game, going 6 innings and allowing two runs.Â Logan Harper came in for relief for 4 innings to get the win, and Isaac Sweeney earned the save.
On Saturday, Lake Region won a high scoring affair against Winooski 12-10.
WINOOSKI-For the second time in four contests this season, the Lake Region Rangers softball team took out their whoopinâ€™ sticks, as they trounced Winooski Saturday morning, 37-1 in girls high school action.
Earlier in the week, the Rangers traveled to Danville, where they dropped a tough-to-swallow 8-4 contest.

NCU 9, Rice 4
So. BURLINGTONâ€“Anna Bingham drove in 3 runs as the Falcons earned their 1st win of the season against Rice.
Taylor Blake got the win for 1-3 No. Country, striking out 9 batters in 7 innings of work.
The girls will look to make it 2 in a row when they travel to take on BFA St. Albans on Tuesday at 4:30.
Rice 15, NCU 0
So. BURLINGTONâ€“Rice's 20 hits were too much for the Falcons on Thursday, as they lost to move to 0-4 in 2013.
Wyatt Prue took the loss for NCU, while Will Conroy picked up the win for the Green Knights.
The Enosburg Yellow Jackets pocketed a 5-4 victory over Lake Region in girls high school softball Monday evening, in a game far different than either had played yet this season.
Enosburg moves to 2-1, while LR drops to 1-1 and travels to Danville Thursday.
