Beauregard Fires in Four Goals To Pace Rangers 4-2

October 10, 2013

ORLEANS-The Lake Region Rangers moved to 8-2-1 on the year after a 4-2 win over visiting Enosburg. Senior striker Alex Beauregard netted 4 goals, two in each half to power the Ranger offense.
Lake Region took an early 2-0 lead before a couple defensive breakdowns let the Hornets back in the game. Cam Cafori and Zack Dixon-Smith tallied for Enosburg forging a 2 all deadlock at the halftime horn.
The Rangers slugged it out in the middle of the field as each club looked for the go ahead score midway through the second half.

Second Half Scoring Sends Rangers Past Olympians

October 3, 2013

ORLEANS–After a sluggish first half of soccer, the Lake Region Rangers got some help from Orleans County's leading scorer Alex Beauregard, who deposited two goals behind Oxbow netminder Michael Hodge as the Rangers avenged an earlier defeat by the Olympians with a 2-0 win on Wednesday afternoon.
LR coach Tom Evans was a man of few words after the contest, saying just, "The second half was a lot better than the first half, but quite honestly, we need to play 80 minutes of soccer.
"The victory of nice, but we can't expect to win playing forty minutes of soccer."

ORLEANS–Tuesday's girls soccer match between Lake Region and Oxbow was a classic example of what can happen when you do not take advantage of your scoring opportunities.
Lake Region out-shot Oxbow 14-4, with several of the shots coming from prime scoring locations, but balls were either fired wide, or directly at Oxbow's netminder Meghan Williams, and the end result was a 2-1 win for the Olympians.

FIELD HOCKEY
Spaulding 2, No. Country 0
The next day brought more fantastic weather and more Spaulding athletic teams to the fields at North Country Union.
On the field hockey green, the Falcons got off to a good start, playing with energy as they looked to bounce back from their first loss of the season, a tough 3-0 defeat at the hands of Harwood on Thursday afternoon.
But Spaulding's Kassandra Perantoni and Nichole Weeks scored less than a minute apart at the mid-point of the first half, and that would be all she wrote.

Spaulding Tops Falcons in Physical Soccer Match

September 27, 2013

NEWPORT-After getting down 1-0 to Spaulding less than five minutes into the first half, the North Country boys soccer team did everything they could, but try as they might, they did not find the back of the Spaulding net and fell to 2-5 on the season on Friday evening.
The contest itself was extremely physical, but for the most part the officials let the boys play.
However there were two incidents that North Country would not slide, and subsequently both Henok Palin and coach James McKenny were issued yellow cards.
Spaulding's Moss Milo had the lone tally in the contest.

Lake Region 3, Danville 0
DANVILLE–Lake Region coach Brad Urie decided to bring up some players from the JV squad for the Lady Rangers' game against the Danville Indians, and the move paid off, as freshman call-up Margo Foster scored her first career varsity goal as part of the team's win over the Indians.
"Margo played quite well, as did the other younger players, Hunter Cota and Jenna Charland," said Urie.
But it wasn't just the youngsters making contributions, as juniors Haely Kennedy and Tori-Lynne Adams scored the first two goals of the game.
