Lake Region 10, Williamstown 9
ORLEANS–The Rangers closed out their season with a run-filled win over Williamstown on Saturday.
Matt Messier drove in 3 runs, while Dustin Bathalon and Alex Beauregard each had a pair of RBI's, and Logan Harper brought in one.
On Friday, the boys defeated Winooski 7-3.
Lake Region is riding a 5 game winning streak, and are playing the right type of baseball at the right time of year.
They are ranked 6th in Division II, and will likely host Harwood in round number one of the post-season.

JAY-On Friday, May 31st, North Country’s girls golf team competed in its final tournament of the season at the Jay Peak Golf Course.
The abbreviated field had Captain Paige Gagnon shooting a 64 in the nine hole event, with teammate Tanika Demers posting a 77.
“I found the course very difficult, but I certainly enjoyed the setting,” she reported.
Paige’s feelings were echoed by a number of the other players saying, “I love the course.”

ESSEX-In the final big meet of the year before States, both Lake Region and North Country had a chance to showcase some of the talent they will be taking to the post-season.
For the Falcons, Cassidy Webster was second in the shot, and Jenna Moss was second in the discus.
Lake Region had several top 6 finishes at the meet, which bodes well for the team.
For the girls, Tyrah Urie tied for 3rd in the 200, Emily Close was 2nd in the 300m hurdles and Kayla Margola was 6th in the shot put.

On Wednesday, North Country Girls Golf participated in an 18 hole tournament at Lang Farm of Essex, with ten schools represented. Essex took first place in the event. The Falcons placed seventh, with scores of 111 from Tanika Demers and 99 from Paige Gagnon. Lang Farm has twelve par three holes, and as golfers know, par threes are the least forgiving. Paige parred three of them. The last tournament before next week’s States is this Friday at Jay Peak.

NEWPORT–Fans of the North Country girls hockey team who expected to see the team make another run at the Division II state title will have to adjust their plans, as the Falcons will not be in the running in DII.
They will be in Division I.
North Country coach Claude Paul confirmed the decision on Wednesday when we spoke at the track meet.
To say Paul was less than thrilled is an understatement, although he didn't have time for a quote.
Harwood and Rutland will also be making the jump to DI, while Hartford and Burr & Burton are heading down to DII.

LYNDON-After three innings of Tuesday’s Lyndon-Lake Region high school softball game, it looked like the Vikings would easily cruise to their 12th victory of the season.
By the 7th inning, that outcome wasn’t quite so obvious.
After falling behind 6-0 after the first three innings, a scrappy Lake Region club scratched and clawed their way back to within a 9-5 deficit, and had loaded the bases with the tying run at the plate in the 7th, before finally succumbing to their powerful D2 foes in Lyndon.
