North Country freshman Callie Young won the Division I Skate Ski State Title in Craftsbury on Thursday.
JAYâ€“The North Country girls hockey team opened the 2015 postseason by hosting the Brattleboro Colonels at the Jay Peak Ice Haus on Wednesday night.
Having not played a game in a week the girls were a little rusty in the opening period, but fro the final thirty minutes they picked up their tempo and came away with a 5-0 win to advance to the semifinals on Saturday night.
BARREâ€“After trailing for the majority of the game, and looking like their season was going to come to an end, the Lake Region Lady Rangers reached deep within their souls, found that little something that makes top ranked teams special, and on the strength of Becky Doucet's lay-up with thirty seconds remaining, defeated the Lyndon Institute Vikings 45-43 to advance to Saturday afternoon's Division II girl's basketball championship game.

SO. BURLINGTONâ€“the North Country Falcons squared off against the Rice Green Knights with a chance to advance to the Division I boy's hockey semi-finals on Saturday night.
Unfortunately for the boys in maroon it was not to be their night, as the Green Knights held North Country scoreless on their way to a 5-0 win.
ORLEANSâ€“After a tight start that saw both the Lake Region Lady Rangers and Milton Yellowjackets score just 37 combined points, Lake Region would up their game in the second half, as they came away with the 45-34 win on Friday night to advance to the Division II semi-finals that will take place Monday night at the Barre Auditorium.
WOODSTOCK--It all went down in the Woodstock Union High School gymnasium Saturday night, as the No. 7 Craftsbury Lady Chargers went on the road and fell to No. 2 Whitchester (Whitcomb-Rochester) Lady Hornets in a D-IV quarterfinal play-off game.

There was a festive mood in the air, but the visiting MVU Thunderbirds spoiled the party for the Falcons, as Alyssa Audet scored her second power-play goal of the game with 20.4 seconds remaining in the third period to give the visiting T-birds the win.
NEWPORTâ€“The North Country Falcons boys basketball team celebrated their outgoing senior class on Tuesday night, but it would be the CVU Redhawks spoiling the party, as they came away with a 61-51 victory to win going away. Follow the Falcons in the Express.
