Jay Peak, once an untouched, pristine mountain wilderness, opened for business as a ski area in 1955.
Today, at nearly all lift-accessed resorts in the nation, and even at some hike-to areas like Mount Washington, ski patrollers are standing by to stabilize injured snowsports enthusiasts and transport them off of the ski slopes.
