Junior High Board Optimistic Following Bond Passage

Derby Line Trustees Outraged With Select Board

The Derby Line trustees are angry that the Derby select board declined at its Monday meeting to approve a bylaw amendment that the trustees were working hard to pass. The Derby planning commission had already approved the move.

Local School Boards To Meet With Legislators

March 19, 2014

NEWPORT CITY – Orleans County school boards will meet with legislators.
The North Country Union High School board grappled Tuesday with consolidating supervisory union districts, and a proposed search and seizure policy generated the most interest.
A joint school board and local legislators summit is scheduled for March 31 at Lake Region Union High School. NCSU Superintendent Robert Kern said questions of issues being considered by the Legislature and information sharing will be the focus.

Newport Taxpayer Complains to NC School Board

NEWPORT CITY - It’s a rare occurrence when a member of the public attends a NCUHS board meeting to raise issues of concern to him. Brian McNeal, a retired law enforcement officer of 30 years penned two letters to the school board earlier this month outlining his concerns.

Brighton Receives Award For Town Hall Restoration

BRIGHTON - The Town of Brighton has received an award for their work restoring the historic town hall. Last year the town received a grant from the Preservation Trust of Vermont to begin the process of restoring the three-story structure.

DeLaBruere and Paul Look to Their Hockey Futures

North Country hockey players Ryan Paul and Ross DeLaBruere have not waited long to start exploring their future options in the game of hockey.
Prior to their appearance in the Essex Rotary Classic All-Star game, the pair, along with their coach Ryan Jacobs, took a trip down south to skate with a couple of junior teams, the Junior Bruins out of Boston, and the Junior Monarchs from Manchester, NH.
