CERT Seeks To Expand Membership

NEWPORT CITY – The Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) is seeking to add new volunteers to its membership roster.
Chris Barrett, director of CERT District 10, which covers Orleans County and northern Essex County, said members help their community in times of disasters, manmade or natural.

Walmart Traffic: Experts Predict Thousands More Vehicles On Road

A traffic study conducted by Conley Associates of Killington and Boston on behalf of Walmart estimates that the supercenter would see 8,360 entrances and exits into and out of its parking lot a day.

LRUHS Graduation: Seventy Complete Another Stage Of Their Lives

BARTON - Seventy Lake Region high school seniors received diplomas on Sunday, completing yet another stage of their lives. Appreciative family friends, faculty and staff filled the school’s gym to capacity celebrating their achievement.

Sky’s the Limit for North Country Golfer Katie Goulet

NEWPORT–If you are a regular reader of these pages, or a steady golfer at the Newport Country Club, then you are no doubt familiar with the name Katie Goulet.
Katie is a freshman, soon to be a sophomore, at North Country Union High School, and she is about to wrap up what has been a fantastic rookie campaign at the high school golf level.
The 15 year-old Derby resident placed 3rd in Division I, and this just been updated, 4th overall in the state of Vermont at the State Tournament, which qualified her for the New England Golf Championships to be held at on June 23rd in Keene, NH.

North Country Union High School: More Than 200 Graduate Saturday

LeClair, 91, Awarded Diploma

Ending the processional march at lake Region Union High School’s graduation Sunday is 91-year-old Maurice LeClair, who was on the founding board at Lake Region. LeClair left school at the age of 13 to work on the family farm when his father suddenly passed. He is a World War II veteran.
