NCH Preparing For Potential Ebola Case

North Country Hospital (NCH) is preparing for the possibly of a patient with Ebola. Even though the risk is low the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is advising that all hospitals are ready. Area doctors have implemented patient screening protocols.

North Country Union Junior High School: Grilled Cheese Competition Sparks Creativity

DERBY CENTER — Family and Consumer Science teacher Kim Haley at North Country Union Junior High School likes to watch cooking shows. Haley said earlier this week cooking shows “spark my curriculum.” Recently she saw someone demonstrate some creative ways to make grilled cheese sandwiches.
Haley decided to hold a creative grilled cheese contest, dividing 21 teams of three students each.

ESPN Sports Radio Coming to Newport

NEWPORT-Newport is getting a new sports talk radio station as part of a radio station shuffle spearheaded by the Northeast Kingdom’s Vermont Broadcast Associates, owners of stations in the Newport, St. Johnsbury and Littleton areas.

John Emanuel Johnson

John Emanuel Johnson, 75, died October 9, 2014, at his home in Brownington, VT. John, a longtime resident of Pawtucket, RI, was the loving father of four children: Cathy Tupper of Cape Coral, FL; Jan Eve Johnson of Wayland, MA; Virginia H. Johnson of N. Attleboro, MA; and John E. Johnson of Pawtucket, RI. John is also survived by his mother Rita Johnson of Greenville, RI; his brother Bertil Johnson of N. Scituate, RI; his sister Linda Molack of Coventry, RI; and his two grandchildren: Angelina M. and Isabella Eve Johnson of Pawtucket, RI. 

Martha "Martie" Louise Vantubergen

On Friday afternoon, October the 10th, Martie passed away at home after fighting a courageous battle against cancer.

Newport City: Charles Elliott Named New Zoning Administrator

Daniels Nets Two to Sink Falcons in Overtime
