ORLEANS â€“ Jay Dudley, a seventh generation Vermonter, wants voters to send him to the Vermont State House. Dudley, a Republican, is seeking to represent the Orleans/Essex senate district.
Dudley decided to run for office in May when Republican Sen. Vince Illuzzi was thinking about seeking higher office.Â
Dudley grew up watching a gradual and steady economic decline in the Northeast Kingdom. He saw many people struggling and he struggled himself.

Methuen â€” Louise J. Manzi, 72, of Methuen and formerly of Dunstable, Lowell, and Newport, Vt., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Holy Family Hospital Methuen. Louise was born in Lawrence on February 24, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Albert Uliano and daughter of Emma (Borrelli) Uliano of North Andover, and was the wife of 53 years to Richard E. Manzi Sr. of Methuen.
LOWELL - More than 100 people turned out to protest the Lowell Mountain Wind Project, stop trucks loaded with turbine parts from entering the Green Mountain Power construction site, and make a statement about future industrial wind projects in the state.
Monday morning, when the first oversized truckload of the day approached the turn to the construction site in Lowell, protesters moved in front of the truck and stopped it in its path for about two hours. Many protesters said blocking the road was not part of the original plan, however.
WESTFIELD, VT - The community of Westfield gathered together to celebrate the contributions of Richard and Pat Shover who are moving to Winterville, GA.
The Shovers moved permanently to Westfield in 1998. Richard was elected town lister in 2000 and served in that job for 12 years. He was known for being fair and working well with other listers and with the public.
Over the years, he attended many meetings and made hundreds of phone calls concerning tax bills and the current use program.
After making a two tire versus four stop during the last caution period Kasey Kahne hung on Sunday afternoon in the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway over a hard charging Denny Hamlin to post his first career win at the â€śMagic Mileâ€ť and his second of the season. Kahne seized the lead from Hamlin following a restart on the 240th lap of the 300-lap race at the 1-mile track on Sunday afternoon. He was facilitated by a team miscommunication between Hamlin, who wanted two tires changed, and crew chief Darian Grubb, who thought his driver wanted four.

James (Jim) Joseph Raftery III, 33, passed peacefully from this world on Friday, June 29, 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, after a long battle with cancer. On that day our world suffered the loss of a kind and gentle soul, a young man with compassion, courage and a fearless love of life.
ORLEANS COUNTY- The delivery of wind turbine sections to the Lowell Mountain wind site is underway.
This is a key milestone for the construction of Green Mountain Powerâ€™s wind turbine project on Lowell Mountain. The 21 industrial sized turbines' components are being transported via more than 100 trucks.
An oversized load rolled through Island Pond, Charleston, and Derby Friday before continuing on through Irasburg and to Lowell. Other deliveries are also heading to Lowell following a different route from Albany, NY.
