That's all folks, just four core players from the 2011 North Country Varsity baseball team are returning in 2012.
The Falcons lost a whopping eighty-three percent of their roster to graduation. The veteran four, the only members of the this yearâ€™s with significant time at the varsity level are the two seniors, Nate Stewart and Jon Boyer, and two juniors, Mike McCarthy and Jason Hatin. these guys will be expected to provide the team with leadership.
Moyer–– Judith Rivard ("Judy"), age 72, of Newark, DE, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE followed by a celebration of her life at VFW Post 475. She will be laid to rest at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery and part of her ashes put into Lake Memphremagog in Newport, VT.

NEWPORT CITY â€“ A Putnam, CT, man who faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder and a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon wants the Orleans County District Court to suppress a photo identification of him.

Oct. 14, 2010, Detective Sgt. Darren Annis of the state police responded to a report of a shooting on Route 5A in West Charleston. Dispatchers told Annis that a woman had been shot outside her home and two men, one white and one black, had fled the scene in a silver pick-up truck.
NEWPORT - Dr. Leslie Lockridge, the oncologist who was terminated from North County Hospital, is opening a private practice in Newport.
Lockridge will continue his oncology work and also provide primary care for adults, he said in an interview Friday. Lockridge will share a building located about a mile from North Country Hospital with Dr. Paul Julien, who is an otolaryngologist.
JERICHO/NEWPORTâ€“The 2012 North Country girls tennis team got their season underway last week against Mount Mansfield.
While it was partly sunny with seasonable temperatures here in Newport, it was miserable in Jericho.
From the moment the team arrived at the courts rain poured down upon the players, forcing them to deal with the miserable conditions until the matches were eventually suspended.
FAIRFAXâ€“The Lake Region Lady Rangers opened their 2012 softball season much like they did in 2011. With snow still twirling around the air and temperatures straddling the 40-degree mark, the Rangers could not overcome first-game jitters, falling to perennial powerhouse Fairfax, 8-3.
Fairfax got things rolling in the first inning, pushing across four runs (three of which were unearned), as Lake Region generously assisted their hosts with four errors.
ORLEANS â€“ â€śThe goal for the season is to compete, be productive and have an athlete compete in every event.â€ť Those were the words of Coach Auclair during a preseason workout.
This seasonâ€™s squad will be larger than usual, with 20 girls and 16 boys making up the 36 member team. 10 freshmen have also made the jump to the track and field team.
