ST. JOHNSBURY–On Saturday, NCUHS’s cross-country team raced at the NVAC Mountain Division XC Championships on a hilly and muddy St Johnsbury course.
The North Country girls finished 3rd out of 13 teams with the top North Country runner senior captain Steph Watson leading the charge in 4th (21:47). Haley Jo Tetreault also broke into the top ten with a strong race placing her 9th (22:05). North Country’s next three scorers were Caitlin Smith (senior), Jordan Howell (freshmen) and Erika Fortin (senior) all finishing in the top 30 to help the Falcon’s to the third place finish.
LYNDON– A late official and ensuing darkness combined to cheat the North Country Field hockey team out of a chance at win number two on Friday.
“We could have had the game,” said Coach Bouchard, “We dominated the second half.”
With only one official at the field for the start of the game the J/V teams got the chance at an early start time, delaying the start of the varsity match.
When the game finally got under way, Molly Manning put North Country ahead just 3 minutes into the contest.
STOWE–The North Country girls soccer team capped off a very successful regular season with a 2-0 win over Stowe.
The win put this year’s Falcons in elite company in the history of the program, becoming the first team since 1982 to reach double digits in the win column.
“We are very happy with our girls,” said Coach Alexander, “It was a team effort.”
The Falcons got on the board ten minutes into the contest when Cara Worth fed Jaime Kramer who beat Stowe’s Caroline Armbruster to go up 1-0.

NEWPORT–A long trying season has probably come to an end for the North Country boys soccer team. With their 1-0 loss to Colchester yesterday, the team is mathematically eliminated from the play-offs, although a small ray of hope exists if one Vermont school’s budget does not pass, then said school will be forced to put all of their extra curricular activities on the shelf.
As for Thursday's action, it was an emotional, physical game at Falcon field that saw North Country have several chances to score, but fall short in their attempts.

BRIGHTON, VT - Mark Podgwaite, Director of Lyndon Rescue, proposed a new emergency medical services contract to the Brighton Selectboard on Wednesday, one that did not contain any increase based on a fee for using a repeater on a tower owned by Sen. Vince Illuzzi and his brother Joseph Illuzzi, who own Site Acquisitions, LLC, based in Montpelier.
The contract did nothing to calm the dispute between Lyndon Rescue and the Illuzzi brothers over who pays how much for using the tower, however.
NEWPORT, VT - A hearing for a preliminary injunction was held Thursday in Orleans Superior Court in the matter of Green Mountain Power (GMP) versus Don and Shirley Nelson. Not all the evidence was presented and the court will continue the hearing Tuesday morning.
