NEWPORTâWhile most people don't get a chance to see it, North Country Cross-Country coach Chris Shaffer is doing good things with the program.
For the second time in his two years as head coach, the Falcons will once again be represented at this weekends' New England Cross Country Championship in Rhode Island, but Shaffer knows that he is just a part of the success that the athletes have had.
"There is a point where all my talking and all my running next to them can only go so far, because once race day comes it's how determined they are and what abilities they bring."
NEWPORT-The North Country Falcons came back from a 37-6 deficit by dominating the second half of Friday nightâs Division two playoff game. However, that early 31 point margin was too much to come back from as the Falcons were ousted from the semi final round by the score of 37-26, one game short of a championship game bid.
North Country had rolled into the contest with a 9-0 record and an impressive decision over these same Bulldogs just two weeks ago. B and B was ready this time, and they immediately got on the scoreboard.
