FAIR HAVEN–Lake Region's track and field team was in fine form on Saturday, as they took third place overall in both the boys (63.4 pts.) and the girls (93 pts.) Division III meets.
For the girls, Emily Close had two first place finishes, taking home top honors in the 300m hurdles (48.83) and the high jump (4'8").
Tyrah Urie had a nice afternoon on Saturday.
She was second in the 100m (12.93), the 200m (26.31, .31 seconds from a D III state record) and the long jump (14'6").

ORLEANS–The Rangers closed out their season with a run-filled win over Williamstown on Saturday.
Matt Messier drove in 3 runs, while Dustin Bathalon and Alex Beauregard each had a pair of RBI's, and Logan Harper brought in one.
On Friday, the boys defeated Winooski 7-3.
Lake Region is riding a 5 game winning streak, and are playing the right type of baseball at the right time of year.
They are ranked 6th in Division II, and will likely host Harwood in round number one of the post-season.

JAY-On Friday, May 31st, North Country’s girls golf team competed in its final tournament of the season at the Jay Peak Golf Course.
The abbreviated field had Captain Paige Gagnon shooting a 64 in the nine hole event, with teammate Tanika Demers posting a 77.
“I found the course very difficult, but I certainly enjoyed the setting,” she reported.
Paige’s feelings were echoed by a number of the other players saying, “I love the course.”
Caples–– Richard (Rick) C., 65, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 24, 2013 surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT.

McGavic–– Mary B., 86, of St. Johnsbury, VT died on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Pines Nursing Home in Lyndonville, VT.
