"We had a couple of nice spots tonight where a player did a good job of boxing a kid out, plus Tyrah really came on late for us, but we are young and we still have some work to do," said LRU coach Joe Houston.

Things got pretty tight in the fourth, as Lyndon put together an 8 point run to get within 2, but Lake Region regrouped and put the game away thanks to some clutch shooting at the free throw line.

Defensive Breakdowns Prove Costly in Falcons' Loss to BFA

December 19, 2013

JAY–Wednesday night was a learning experience for the North Country girls hockey team, as they went head-to-head with the defending Division I state champion BFA Comets.
Things did not go particularly well for the Falcons, as they fell 8-2, but they definitely found out what it will take to compete with the best in the state of Vermont.
"We have to play them once straight up to see how the game is going to roll, but from there on it is up to me to make it better," said NCU coach Claude Paul on his take of the game.

"It has been a smooth transition," said Adams on the move. "The community is great, I love my teammates and I am having a great time playing with these motivated guys."

Lady Rangers Rally Late, But Fall Short Against Yellow Jackets

December 17, 2013

ORLEANS–Despite rallying to tie the game in the third quarter, then briefly taking the lead in the fourth, the Lake Region girls basketball team suffered their second loss of the year at the hands of the Windsor Yellow Jackets on a frigid Monday evening.
"All night tonight we struggled with consistency," said LRU coach Joe Houston. "We had some runs when we did really good things then we would go back to doing things that gave them easy opportunities and easy baskets and we couldn't sustain the way we wanted to play long enough to build a lead and a cushion and get things going."

NEWPORT-The North Country girl's basketball team got their season underway at home against the U-32 Raiders on Saturday afternoon, but fell short in their quest for the win, losing 41-38 to the visitors.
"The girls showed a lot of heart out there and they made it clear that they are willing to work," said NCU coach Christiane Brown. "It is nice to see that we can run and push the ball, we just have to get some quality shots on the other end."

Essex Scores Twice in the 3rd to Best Falcons

December 11, 2013

Jay-After Ross DeLaBruere put North Country ahead 1-0 in the first, the Essex Hornets tied things up in the second, then popped in two more in the third to hand the Falcons their first loss of the season.
Freshman goalie Dana Marsh was outstanding for the Falcons, stopping 34 of 37 shots on the night.
Despite the loss, North Country played a very strong game, and if they continue to improve, the next time these two teams meet, the outcome could be much different.
