Chelsea Completes Second Half Comeback to Oust Craftsbury

CHELSEA–The 5th ranked Craftsbury boys basketball team had an excellent showing in their quarter-final battle with the number 4 Chelsea Red Devils, but ended up on the short end of the stick, as they fell 50-47 to close out their season.
"Those boys played their hearts out," Craftsbury coach Derek Cipriano said about his team after the game. "(Chelsea) took a lead late, and they were up by nine, but we battled back to get within one and I am so proud of them."

Skate Deflection Sends Lakers Past Falcons 1-0

JAY–Sometimes you have it, and sometimes you don't, and Wednesday was one of those nights for the North Country girls hockey team, as they fell to Colchester 1-0 in the Metro Division quarter-finals.
"I think we might have been a little off in spots, but full credit to Colchester. They are probably 12 deep in skaters, and they don't have any off-skaters," said NCU coach Claude Paul. "I knew it was a tough draw when we got them, but we wanted that home ice, and that is where we landed."

Ranger Boys Buzzsaw Olympians Into Submission

ORLEANS-The Lake Region Rangers have lived by their defensive pressure all season long.
The visiting Oxbow Olympians got a first hand look at that during their play-down visit.
The end result was a dominating defensive effort by the number three seeded Rangers as they blew out number 14 seed Oxbow by 41 points.

DeLaBruere Hits 1,000 Pt. Plateau in Chargers Win Over Blue Mtn.

CRAFTSBURY–Chris DeLaBruere, the former United Christian Academy standout and Current Craftsbury Charger, scored his 1000th point for Craftsbury Academy, as they won their Division IV playoff game versus Blue Mountain on Wednesday night by the score of 51-45.

Basketball Falcons Fall to Burr and Burton 78-54

MANCHESTER-Although they did not get the win, the Falcons' boys basketball team gave a fine performance in their play-down loss to Burr and Burton Academy on Tuesday.
"The boys played well, but their shots didn't fall," said NCU coach Ed Duncan, who wraps up his first year behind the bench with a 7-14 record. "I wish our two seniors the best of luck moving forward, and I would like to thank all of the parents and our fans."
B&B got out to the fast start, posting a ten-spot on the board before the Falcons got their first basket.

You Had to Be There, Falcons Defeat Bobwhites, Updated!

ST. ALBANS-The North Country Falcons defeated the BFA St. Albans Bobwhites 5-4 on Tuesday night to advance to the Division One Semi-finals. Ryan Paul scored the game winning goal, but the story of this game is a lot more complex.

Craftsbury Starts Out Hot, But Proctor Comes Back to Get Win

BARRE–The Craftsbury girls basketball team had a great start to their semi-final contest against Proctor, but the Lady Phantoms got hot from beyond the arc in the second quarter, and they built up a lead that was too much to overcome, and the Lady Chargers season came to a close with 60-36 loss at the Barre Auditorium.

CRAFTSBURY–On Saturday afternoon in front of a packed house full of excited, passionate basketball fans, the Craftsbury Lady Chargers defeated the Whitcomb/Rochester Hornets 43-35 to advance to tonight's Division IV semi-final contest in Barre.
"These girls deserve this,” said Craftsbury coach Rick Thomas. "For us to be present, to be the smallest school (in Barre) and to be relevant in this conversation speaks volumes to how focused (the girls) have been all year. This has been our objective and we have set our performances standards to meet this and these guys are going (to Barre)."

Huge First Half Sends Lake Region Past BFA Fairfax

ORLEANS–The Lake Region Rangers closed out the 2013-2014 regular season in grand fashion by running over the BFA Fairfax Bullets 74-48 on Friday evening.
With it being senior night, Ingalls had elected to start all five of his seniors, and the move would pay dividends early, as Lake Region came out of the gates on fire.
