Lady Rangers Continue to Roll, Defeat Lamoille 2-0

ORLEANS-Haley Kennedy popped in a goal just two and a half minutes into the first half, and that is all the Lady Rangers would need, as they went on to defeat Lamoille 2-0 on Saturday morning.
"I'm happy to get a win against a Division II team," said LR coach Brad Urie. "(Lamoille) played two tough games before this one, and I knew they were ready to win, thankfully it wasn't against us."

Peoples Holds off Late-Charging Falcons

Newport-After getting behind 2-0 in the first, the North Country girls soccer team battled back to make it close in the second half before eventually falling 3-2.
Mykayla Tanguay and Chelsea Bianchi had the two goals for the Falcons on Friday afternoon.
Jenna Moss had several clutch saves, and finished the day with a total of 7.
The girls will be back in action on September, 17th when they travel to Lyndon for a 4:30 contest with the Vikings.

Bulldogs Hand Falcons Third Straight Loss

NEWPORT-It just was not North Country's night as the visiting Burr and Burton Bulldogs came into town and dropped 47 points on the Falcons, while holding the home team scoreless, winning the game 47-0.
Said Assistant coach Lonnie Wade, "We just did not take care of the ball."
Eric Cerra had 3 touchdowns, including an 80 yard run in the first half, to lead the Bulldogs on Friday night.
Burr and Burton moves to 2-1, while the Falcons drop to 0-3.
Next up for North Country is a trip to Bellows Falls on September 21st. Game time is 1:00.

Local Games Postponed Due to Nasty Weather

ORLEANS-Wednesday’s girls soccer game between Lake Region and Hazen was postponed due to the storm that eventually hit the area.
With just about 11 minutes of soccer in the books and the score standing at 0-0, a rumbling of thunder caused play to be halted and for players to move into the school.
After the initial thunder, lightning started to strike, and after to close to an hour into the delay, the game was called. No make-up date has been announced yet.
The soccer match between the Craftsbury and Concord girls was also postponed.

Beauregard’s OT Winner Keeps Lake Region Undefeated

ORLEANS-After numerous chances to put the ball in the back of the net in regulation, Alex Beauregard finally got one past Lamoille netminder Bennett Anderson 44 seconds into overtime to give the Lake Region boys soccer team the 1-0 win over the Lamoille Lancers on Tuesday afternoon.
"That was the best feeling in the world, scoring the golden goal in overtime. Too bad it could not have happened earlier, but oh well," Beauregard replied when asked about his game-winner.

Falcons Avenge 2012 Play-off Loss, Defeat MVU 4-1

SWANTON–Finally.
After years of being on the losing end of games against the Missisquoi Valley Union Thunderbirds, the North Country Falcon field hockey team defeated the T-birds 4-1 on Monday afternoon to improve their record to 1-0-1.
"This win feels amazing," said NCU coach Chantelle Bouchard. "We have come so close in the past, and after losing to them in the play-offs the last two years, this win means a lot to both me, and all of the girls on the team."
It was a much different MVU team that the Falcons faced on Monday, as the T-Birds lost 12 seniors from last year due to graduation.

Vikings Hold Off Late Falcon Surge, Win 47-22

LYNDON-The Lyndon Institute Vikings scored there first touchdown less than three minutes into the first quarter and never looked back, picking up a 47-22 win over the North Country Falcons.
"I think we didn’t give up, we got twenty-two points, and we are making progress,” said NCU coach Tim Simoneau.

Wright, Brown Net Hat-tricks in One-sided Win Over UCA

NEWPORT-Against a very young, inexperienced UCA girls soccer team, the Craftsbury Lady Chargers unloaded 17 goals in a ruthless 17-0 win over the Lady Crusaders.
Iva Wright and Meghan Brown led the way with three goals apiece. Meghan Pennock, Melanie Sergiev and Abbie Martin each had a pair of tallies, with five other players finding the back of the net as well.
However, the hardest working player on the field was not a Charger, it was UCA netminder Drew Andrews.

Bianchi's OT PK Sends Falcon Faithful Home Happy

NEWPORT-After 80 minutes of relentless action could not produce a goal, or a winner, the North Country and Lyndon Institute girls headed into overtime knotted at 0-0.
With under two minutes left in the first overtime period, Crystal Moss worked her way into the Vikings' 18 where she was taken down by a Lyndon defender.
The referee signaled a PK and Chelsea Bianchi took her place at the line.
The senior wasted no time blasting the ball into the left side of the net, sending both players and fans alike into a frenzy, as the home team earned the 1-0 win.

Falcon Boys Off to a Good Start, Defeat Lyndon 2-1

NEWPORT–It wasn't the prettiest win in the history of North Country boys soccer, but it was definitely an important one, as the Falcons defeated Lyndon 2-1 to start the season 1-0 in 2013.
"It was important to start off on a good foot," said North Country coach James McKenny. "Obviously every year you want to start with a "W." It could have been a prettier brand of soccer, obviously it was a little rough out there."
