May 26, 2014

NEWPORT–On Saturday, the North Country baseball team reinforced the notion that they have a flare for the dramatic, as they once again staged a late-inning comeback to walk off with a 6-5 win over the Spaulding Crimson Tide.
"They don't quit and they don't give up," said NCU coach Brian Bonvechio about his battle-tested troop of ball players. "It seems that every game we have one bad inning defensively or pitching-wise, but then we have a great inning offensively to overcome those obstacles."

Lake Region Shows Fight in Loss to BFA Fairfax

May 18, 2014

FAIRFAX- If there was such a thing as a “Vegas line” on Thursday’s Lake Region vs. Fairfax high school softball game, it probably wouldn’t have been pretty.

And to top it off, they boast one of the best pitchers in the entire state in Kayla Mathieu, a hurler who started the season giving up just 2 hits in her first 20 innings of work, and has struck out 27 batters in her previous two games.
