Senior Scoring Does the Talking as Falcons Fly Past Raiders

JAY–Senior Night was an appropriate title to describe the North Country Falcons' evening on Wednesday.
With senior netminder Chase LaCourse between the pipes, all four senior forwards scored at least one goal, with Ross DeLaBruere and Ryan Paul each netting two, as the Falcons picked up a 7-2 win over the Rutland Red Raiders to close out the regular season.

Craftsbury Advances, Falcons Fall in Girls Play-off Action

CRAFTSBURY-Sitting in fourth place in Division IV, the Craftsbury girls started their journey to the Barre Auditorium by hosting 13th ranked Websterville on Wednesday night.
They did not disappoint the fans in attendance, as the rolled to a 67-14 win to advance to the quarter-finals.
Janet Bohannon paced the Lady Chargers with 21 points.
With the win, Craftsbury will now host Whitcomb with a trip to Barre on the line.

Red Devils Go Off in the Third to Upend Craftsbury

CRAFTSBURY–The Chelsea Red Devils play in the paint during the third quarter gave them the separation they needed to pull away from the Craftsbury Chargers and pick up a 61-42 win on Tuesday evening.
"We fought hard from start to finish," said Craftsbury coach Derek Cipriano. "Chelsea has a great inside-outside game and tonight they caught us with that inside game and made it tough for us to defend in the second half."
Before play got underway, the Chargers honored their two out going seniors, Logan Masse and Paul Saaman.

Lady Rangers First Half Blitz Levels Commodores 81-41

ORLEANS-For the Lake Region Lady Rangers, it’s been an up and down year.
A slow start left them at 0-4 but it has become obvious over the course of the season the young crew has gotten better.
Visiting Vergennes found that out the hard way as the blue and white put the hammer down with heavy pressure early and ran away with a 40 point play-down victory.

North Country Picks Up Big 61-58 Win Against Spaulding

NEWPORT–The North Country Falcons utilized a balanced scoring attack, and made some timely shots late to pick up a 61-58 win over the Spaulding Crimson Tide on Monday night.
"We saw a lot of heart out there tonight," NCU coach Ed Duncan said about his team after the game. "In each of the games over the last couple of weeks we have been there, but we haven't put in the full four quarters together to finish it out. But tonight we displayed that we are capable of doing that."

Tough Going for Craftsbury Against Mid-Vermont Christian

CRAFTSBURY–What started out as a good back and forth contest ended with foul-filled fourth quarter as the Craftsbury Charger boys fell to the Mid-Vermont Christian Eagles 56-47 on Saturday afternoon.
"Defensively, Mid-Vermont went into a one-three-one zone and we couldn't crack it," said a visibly upset Craftsbury coach Derek Cipriano after the game. "I think it was as simple as that and we got frustrated offensively and it filtered down throughout the rest of the team."

Lady Rangers Romp Over Hazen on Senior Night

ORLEANS-Thursday night was senior night at the Don Harter Gymnasium, and the fans in attendance let the Lady Rangers' lone senior Nicole Roy know how much she was appreciated as they showered her with applause in a pre-game ceremony.
However, when things got underway in the first, things were anything but pretty, as both teams struggled to get anything going in terms of their offense.
However, in the second quarter Lake Region's found their offensive stride, and after scoring 49 points in the second and third they were well on their way to a 65-36 win to improve to 10-9 on the year.

Hockey Round-up: Boys Win Thriller, Girls Shut Down MVU

SO. BURLINGTON–Ross DeLaBruere scored 2:10 into overtime to give the North Country Falcons a season series split with the South Burlington Rebels.
"We played well tonight," said NCU coach Ryan Jacobs.
DeLaBruere's game-winner was his third of the evening.
Things did not get off to a great start for the Falcons, as they were down 2-0 before Ross and Ryan Paul evened things up late in the first period.
After a scoreless second, the Rebels jumped ahead 3-2 6:16 into the third.

North Country Hosts Kingdom Cup Night Relays

NEWPORT–The North Country Nordic team host their annual Kingdom Cup Night Relays on a chilly Wednesday evening.
The race, known more for its wacky costumes than its competitive nature, is a chance for friends, fans and family to gather and watch the team ski and have a little fun at home.
"It is a really good team bonding race," said Alex Cotnoir. "It is not really competitive as far as scores go. It is more about going out and having fun in funny costumes."
