JAY PEAK – Jay Peak had some interesting visitors this past week, as arguably the first snowboarder at Jay Peak came back for a visit and some good times on the mountain he once called home.
"Smokin" Jay Quintin and his snowboard company, Smokin Snowboards, came out for The First Annual Smokin Gathering at Jay Peak where 25 of their best retailers on the east coast came to ride some of the new gear and meet the people that make it all happen. With Vermont treating us with some of the best Spring conditions on Tuesday, the guys headed up to test the new boards and see which one was the best for them.
Jay Peak has had a great season of snowfall, so it was perfect to test out boards designed to ride some of the most difficult terrain out there as well as the performance in the park at Jay.
Two days of riding and being treated to a fantastic time at Grampa Grunts Lodge in Montgomery Center by Ted Quintin was more than just a great time, as the town who saw a kid grow up to be a pro snowboarder and then a successful business man come back to the place that made him who he is. "
Smokin" Jay Quintin has been making award winning snowboards in Lake Tahoe for the last 15 years and continues to grow and give back to the sport by sponsoring up and coming riders and riders that have put their dues in to the great sport we love.
Jay also organizes and sponsors a big year ending contest for the kids in Lake Tahoe called the Smokin Pool Party at Boreal Mountian where he and companies like Skull Candy, Volcom, Electric Visual, DVS, One Ball Jay, Airblaster, and Neff give back to the kids that make this sport keep growing.
We cant begin to tell you how great it was to come ride where it all started for us. We need to give a big Thanks to Bill Stenger and JJ Toland from Jay Peak. Ted, Karie and Brad from Grampa Grunts Lodge, all of our shops from the east coast and eastern Canada, and the people of Montgomery Center for making us all feel at home. See you next year for an even bigger and better event.
Smokin Snowboards are professionally handmade by Snowboarders who care about quality and performance. !!!YOU CANT FOOL THE YOUTH!!!
