DERBY LINE, VT – Ballet Arts of Newport, under the direction of Kathleen McCloskey-Scott, presented their spring performance and captivated the audience at the Haskell Opera House Sunday afternoon.
The performance, which included scenes from the Tales of Beatrix Potter and from the Ballet Carmen, was a benefit to raise funds for the Haskell.
The audience was drawn into the favorite Beatrix Potter childhood characters of Mrs. Title and the Piglets with McCloskey Scott’s comical rendition of the characters.
Prior to the performance of Carmen, McCloskey let the audience know that the dancers had expressed desired to perform scenes from the famous Ballet Carmen. And McCoskey-Scott agreed, although revising the mature subject matter into something more suitable for a family audience with a rating of PG.
Local musical artists Angus Gluck and his mother Janice Gluck entertained the audience with violin and piano pieces as part of the presentation.
The show was produced by QNEK Productions, the resident theater company at the Haskell.
