ORLEANS-After numerous chances to put the ball in the back of the net in regulation, Alex Beauregard finally got one past Lamoille netminder Bennett Anderson 44 seconds into overtime to give the Lake Region boys soccer team the 1-0 win over the Lamoille Lancers on Tuesday afternoon.
"That was the best feeling in the world, scoring the golden goal in overtime. Too bad it could not have happened earlier, but oh well," Beauregard replied when asked about his game-winner.
"I thought we played a good match," said LR coach Tom Evans. "I told the kids that I didn't want to get into a kick and run style game because (Lamoille) has some speed, but all in all, for a young team, I thought we controlled the pace and created a lot of opportunities, and luckily we got the goal in overtime."
