FAIRFAX–Lake Region ran up against the toughest team they are likely to face this season, BFA Fairfax, and while they played well, they came up just a little short on Tuesday afternoon.
After forty minutes the game remained scoreless, but seven minutes into the second BFA's Anissa Hartman was left alone in front of the net and buried the ball, giving Fairfax the 1-0 lead.
With 15:00 left in the half, BFA made it 2-0 as Kailtlyn Barnack found the back of the cage.
Karamae Hayman-Jones had the lone Lake Region goal on a feed from Tyrah Urie with 9:55 left to play.
Even after a flurry of activity late, the score stayed 2-1 and BFA picked up the win to move to 6-1 while the Lady Rangers drop to 6-2.
Jordyn Cowles had 12 saves for Lake Region while Emily West had 4 for BFA.
"We had a few mental mistakes, which we must limit, but it was a pretty good game," said coach Brad Urie.
Urie also noted the strong effort he received from Sarbrina Roberge, Celeste Lussier, Tori Adams and Amber Bernier on Tuesday.
Lake Region will head to Richford this afternoon as they try to put another check mark in the win column.
