BOSTON – Bombs blasted Boston during its annual Patriot's Day marathon yesterday. At least four bombs either exploded or were detonated by police, including one in the John F. Kennedy Library and one in a sports shop. Two of the blasts were about 100 yards apart near the race finish line. The blasts shattered windows, knocked people to their feet, and sent heavy smoke in the air and over the streets.
By 6 p.m., at least 50 people were reported injured, many seriously, and at least two people were reported killed.
Roupen Baspajian, a 35-year-old, off duty, state trooper from Rhode Island, who'd just finished the race, told a CBS reporter, "I started running toward the blast and there were people all over the floor. We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs. A lot of people amputated.... At least 25 to 30 people have at least one leg missing, or an ankle
