GUILDHALL – Kasey Parsons Sweatt and Aaron Sweatt, both 30, of Canaan VT, entered not guilty pleas in Essex County Court Jan. 8 to charges of possessing 200 milligrams or more of heroin. In addition, Kasey Parsons Sweatt entered a not guilty plea to cruelty of a child less than ten years old.
Judge Mary Miles Teachout released the couple on conditions, including a condition that they not have contact with their three minor children, ages 2, 4 and 10, without DCF approval.
Dec. 27, 2012, Essex County Sheriff Trevor Colby went to the home of Sweatt and Parsons to serve a search warrant. During that search, he seized pills, marijuana plants and seeds, a substance that field tested positive for heroin, and drug paraphernalia.
Many of the items found and seized were located in a basement sleeping area, in drawers in the headboard of a bed. Near the bed were food items and children's toys.
