Cold and Wet Conditions in Thetford for NC XC

THETFORD–North Country XC ran a cold, muddy, & wet race at Woods Trail in Thetford, VT on Saturday.
The girls had a strong performance finishing 9th overall (6th VT team) led by Senior Captain Steph Watson. Steph finished in 15th place (22:08) out of a field of runners from all over New England on a slow course smeared with mud.
Junior Captain Haley Jo Tetreault (23:41) was NC’s 2nd finisher in 59th place followed by senior Caitlin Smith (23:59) in 71st place. Senior Erika Fortin (24:16) had a great race finishing in 80th place and Jordan Howell (24:48) in 110th rounded out the scoring for North Country.
The boys were 23rd out of 46 teams with a great performance from Sophomore Ross DeLaBruere leading the way for the Falcons with 58th place (19:27).
Senior Captain Trevor Howell was not far behind in 62nd place (19:30). Next in was senior Dave Durivage was the third scorer for North Country in 146th (20:22) followed by Junior Captain Trevor Roberts in 189th (20:46). Freshman Sam Brunette ran a gutsy race finishing 218th in a time of 21:04 to round out the Falcon scoring.
The teams will be back to Thetford at the end of the month for the Vermont State Championships. The XC teams travel to St. Johnsbury on Wednesday for their next meet.
