A Day of Personal Record for NC XC at Peoples
MORRISVILLE–North Country had a successful outing on a beautiful Indian summer day at the People’s Academy Invitational on Sat Oct 8th bringing home team trophies in 3 out of the 4 races and every team member earning a medal (top 10 JV & top 20 Varsity) or ribbon (JV: 11-50th, V: 21-50th). The day started off with 3 top 10 finishes in the JV girls race with Maggie Stuart setting the first of a number of Personal Records (PRs) in 27:17 (2nd) with Annie Arcoleo in 3rd with a time of 27:28. Shannon Smith was 7th in the JV race with a time of 29:22. In the next race was JV boys race with a 1st place team finish (21 points - 2nd place = Stowe). Junior Brad Dopp finished 1st in the JV boys race in a time of 20:26. North Country packed 5 more JV boys in the top 10 spots with Fred Petzoldt (3rd, 21:42 PR), Andrew Franklin (4th, 21:50 PR), Alex Charboneau (5th, 21:55), Harry Foster (8th 22:39) and Jared Hussey (9th, 22:55 PR). The streak of good racing and fast times continued with the varsity girls taking 1st place as a team led by Steph Watson (20:36) bumping to 1st place when the runner that finished just ahead of her was disqualified for cutting portions of the course. Haley Jo Tetreault had a strong finishing kick to take 2nd overall (21:03) and Caitlin Smith was 7th in a PR time of 21:54 (PR). Erika Fortin (23:37 – 22nd) & Laura Smith (24:24 – 26th PR) ran hard to the finish to put the girls’ team just ahead of 2nd place U32 (74 pts). The boys finished up the day with 2nd place (67 pts) for varsity boys behind U32 (48 points). Dave Durivage was the top Falcon in 6th with a time of 18:11 followed closely by Ross DeLaBruere in 7th with a PR time of 18:15. Stephen Bellavance had a monster PR time of 18:54 in 16th helping to pull Patrick Tetrault to a PR time of 18:59 (18th). Trevor Roberts held strong to finish in 20th (19:07) to finish up the scoring for the boys. Rounding out the top 7 varsity boys were Ben Dillner (PR: 19:31 – 23rd) & Sam Brunnette (PR: 19:47 – 24th)The team’s next race is at U-32 on Wednesday.
