DeLaBruere, Paul Put up Four Points Each in 7-2 Victory

JAY-Another game and another night of poor road conditions for the boy's hockey team from North Country.
They must really like that holiday favorite 'Let it Snow,' because each of the last two times out, the weather was frightful, but inside was indeed delightful, as the Falcons once again scored five third period goals, besting 1-3 Rice to stay undefeated at 4-0 in the young season.
"We pressured early, controlled the pace, but did not get any return on our efforts in the first two periods," said coach Andrew Roy.
It was 1-0 Rice after one period of play, but in the second Ryan Paul scored on a feed from Ross DeLaBruere and Logan Fortier to knot things up at 1-1.
After Rice went ahead later in the second, Paul struck again to make it 2-2 going into the third.
DeLaBruere and Fortier once more assisted on the goal.
The third period belonged to the Falcons penalty-killing unit, and specifically DeLaBruere, who had two short-handed goals and set up Paul's third of the game in the frame.
Said Roy, "It was important for us that Ryan got that hat-trick, as he and Ross had been dominant all game long."
Kody Halikas and first year man Ben Pecue had the other North Country goals.
Pecue has been more than up to the task in his first year playing at the Metro level, and Roy commented on how well he is doing.
"Ben is doing a good job of getting the puck to the net. He has a quick release, and he does a lot of the simple things well. With only three defenseman, we definitely leaned on him and Quentin Nelson a lot in this game."
While they showed up on the score sheet only once, the line of Adam Viens, Halikas and Travis Tetreault had a nice outing for the Falcons, sustaining pressure all game long, while doing a lot of important things that help a club win games.
It was another fine performance for goalie Chris Bronson, who turned away twenty-one shots in the game, while the Falcons put thirty-plus on the Green Knight net.
A tough opponent awaits North Country in the new year, as the boys will head over to Chittenden County to face off against the Colchester Lakers on Wednesday evening at 6:30.
