DERBY – The Derby Planning Commission has passed an amended version of the town plan. In a split decision Monday evening, following a public hearing, planners agreed to changes suggested by the town’s select board and Northeastern Vermont Development Association (NVDA).
The planning commission’s duties include drafting a town plan, but the select board has the final say over its contents before it is presented to voters for approval. In the draft created by the planners it called for connecting the Quarry Road with Darling Hill Road “to improve safety via alternative access and lessen the usage of Route 5” as the land is developed. The select board recommended deleting the paragraph.
The planners also wrote in the draft, “Develop a system for levying impact fees to pay for capital improvements, which the select board asked to take out.
