JERICHO–The North Country wrestling team was the top finishing Vermont school in weekend tournament action. The crew took home sixth place out of seventeen teams, and coach Chris Mandigo was very pleased with his teams efforts.
“They wrestled extremely well, and I am very proud of them.”
Here are the results from the tournament:
1) Makenzie Steel (Lake Region), 120lbs, had two good matches. Did not place.
2) Josh Tompkins, 145lbs, went 1/2, did not place, pinned Spaulding opponent Anthony Duchamel-Garcia in 38 seconds.
3) Colin Brennan, 145lbs, went 3/2. He placed 4th in the tournament
4) Trevor Roberts, 152lbs, went 3/1 before losing in the finals. He took second in 152lbs class.
5) Nathan Morin, 160lbs, went 3/1 before losing in the finals. He took second in 160lbs class.
6) Jacob Scoot, 170lbs, had two tough matches but did not place.
7) Grant Blake, 185lbs, two tough matches did not place.
8) Donovan Steele (Lake Region), 220lbs, went 2/2 and fished 4th in the 220lbs class.
9) Riley Simoneau, 220lbs, went 2/1 before losing in the finals. He took second in 220lbs class.
