NEWPORT-North Country softball team lost their starting pitcher Taylor Blake after two and two-thirds innings due to injury, and despite the gutsy performance of reliever Maddie Mosher, Vergennes was able to to take advantage of the situation, and came away with a 26-2 win in five innings on Thursday.
Mosher spoke after the game about the difficulty in having to come in and pitch in these types of situations, saying, "It's pretty difficult, but you do the best that you can with what you are dealt. You just try to keep the ball low so they can't lift it, and hope your outfield and the rest of your team has your back."
Said Dunn about Mosher's effort, "Maddie is just a spitfire and you can't keep her down. She will just work and work and work and she doesn't ever give up."
