ESSEX–The biggest game of the weekend for North Country sports fans took place deep in Hornet Country, as the Falcons and the Essex Hornets took to the ice with a trip to the Gutterson Field House for the Division I State Title on the line.
A sluggish start proved to be the Falcons' undoing, as Essex notched two goals in the first period en route to a 5-2 win.
"We played them three times (this year) and it seems that each time we played them we took a period off, and against that team you can't do that," said NCU coach Ryan Jacobs. "(Essex) is a solid hockey club and they don't have many weaknesses. They are very smart with puck and if you don't play forty-five minutes against them, you are in trouble."
