Feds Charge Two with St. Jay Meth Lab

ST. JOHNSBURY, VT - The U.S. Attorney's Office in Burlington is charging Thaddeus Gordon and Shawn Greenwood of St. Johnsbury with conspiracy to manufacture meth.
Members of the Vermont HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Response Team and the Vermont State Police Clandestine Laboratory Team located and cleaned up the areas involved.
Police searched the woods near a cemetery in St. Johnsbury and found containers, chemicals, residue and other items associated with a meth lab. All unsafe materials were secured, documented and disposed of safely.
Gordon and Greenwood appeared in U.S. District Court Thursday and are being held pending hearings.
United States Attorney Tristram J. Coffin emphasizes that the charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
If convicted, the defendants face imprisonment for a term up to 20 years. Actual sentences in the event of conviction would be determined pursuant to the advisory federal sentencing guidelines and the federal statutory sentencing factors.
