NEWPORT CITY - A Newport City man will serve two concurrent 5-10 year prison sentences plus a current 6-12 month prison sentence following a Newport City assault in which the victim was bashed in the head with a frying pan.
David Fletcher, 21, entered guilty pleas Wednesday to charges of burglary, aggravated assault and simple assault. The state dismissed a charge of assault and robbery with a weapon. Fletcher agreed to cooperate in the conviction of his alleged accomplices, Donald Cross and Peter Cirone. The state is looking to charge Cross as a habitual offender and wants to seek a life sentence.
