VERGENNES– The NEK Pythons traveled to western Vermont on April 7th for a tournament that featured the K-2 state championships.
All of the Python’s K-2 wrestlers are first year competitors, and they showed their growth as athletes at the event.
In the championship portion of the afternoon, Lahna Descheneau and Cazian Comeau-Elman each came in second place. Manny St. Marie came in third, and Dereck Guillette and Jonathan Hunt took fifth place.
For the rest of the team, it was just a regular tournament and the results are as follows;
Josh Roberts continued his winning ways with taking home another first place finish.
Malakai Maher and Codey Lamere also wrestled well, picking up second place honors.
Wynston Bean finished third, Logan Sylvester and Tyler Wilson were fourth, and Jacob Sylvester rounded out the afternoon with his finish in the number five spot.
While this tournament marked the end of the season for the younger Pythons, the event served as a tune up for the older kids, as they will head to Essex this weekend for their state tournament
